Here’s our list of necessary gear for your small lab, be it the Manufacturing Engineering department in any research/manufacturing Company, or just your Maker’s basement/garage lab.

A Linux PC – UBUNTU or, for the fancy ones, Linux Mint

Software:

Arduino IDE

KiCAD for electronics schematics and PCB design

TI (TM) TINA for circuit simulation

Breadboards

pin-wires for breadboards

Power Supplies: USB-based, or your own. 5 Volts, 1 A minimum

Electronic components: you want a good set of passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors), and a good set of active, starting from diodes, transistors, and going to ICs as needed.

you also want some user interface (LCD, LEDs, buttons, dip switches, etc)
